Q: Do you mind books with similar ideas to other books? Similar concepts, backgrounds, retellings or pulled-to-publish fanfic?
A: I would have to say as a fan of the Young Adult and Paranormal genres the answer would have to be no. I mean I don't want the same story over and over and over again. But you tend to get a lot of books about the same overall subject and ideas.
Of course within that you can see how each author takes their own spin on the subject matter so every book, even though it is created off of the same similar idea, is still different.
I have the perfect example... Take Beautiful Disaster and Easy.
These are the two most similar books I can think of but I absolutely, wholeheartedly love them both in their own ways. And when I say love... I mean LOVE a lot!
So there is no way I could answer this question with a 'No' and still love these two books! And I couldn't imagine not having these two books so I am happy that there are books with similar ideas and concepts.
So... what about you? What is your answer?

I feel the same! I can enjoy books if they have the same themes, like vampires saving the world. But I don't want to read the same book twice--meaning same characters and all that other jazz but by another author.

Great answer! I haven't read either of these books yet, but I know what you mean. Sometimes a general book idea can be similar, but it's all about how the writer crafts the story and makes it their own, that sets them apart and makes them both equally lovable.
